Surface markings and variations seen in the surface of metal mosaic tiles are inherent qualities of the natural metal material and add to the beauty and richness of the product.
Our metal mosaic may be installed on interior residential or commercial wall areas, in wet or dry locations, such as a bathroom walls, kitchen, or vanity backsplash. We do not recommend using copper and stainless steel mosaic in submerged areas and showers. When exposed to air and moisture all copper will patina over time (turns dark green). It is vital that this feature is taken into account when choosing copper mosaics as the color may change.
Protective films on each sheet of metal tiles are to protect the metal tile surfaces and to secure them during transportation.
Few individual metal pieces may come loose when peeling off the protective film or during installation. Please advise, these pieces can be glued back using any adhesives for metal.
For easier handling during installation, protective plastic-film on face of each tile should be left on until the tiles are firmly thin-set onto the tile area.
Metal mosaic tiles can be cut, however you will lose the beveled edge if you cut the tile. We recommend that you design your installation by laying out the sheets to properly measure and for spacing needed and to avoid cutting tiles as much as possible.
Metal mosaic tiles can be cut on mesh using any knife or scissors. Each individual metal mosaic pieces can be cut using good diamond blade saw designed for porcelain or metal cutting. Please cut with the metal pieces facing the blade and ceramic backing down. Use of protective eyewear is recommended.
We recommend using regular thin set or modified thin set for ceramic wall tile application to set metal tiles with ceramic backing. Ceramic backed metal mosaics can be set just like ceramic or porcelain wall tile.
We recommend using non-sanded grout to prevent from scratching.
Do not use abrasive cleaners, powders, heavy scouring pads, steel wool, sandpaper, etc. to remove grout haze or damage to the tile surface will result.
Metal mosaic tiles must be regularly cleaned and maintained to extend their life and beauty. Most dirt and stains can be cleaned with a mild detergent and soft microfiber cloth or sponge. We recommend the use of the DuPont™ StoneTech® Professional Stone & Tile Cleaner for maintenance cleaning of the surface. Do not use abrasive cleaners, powders, scouring pads, steel wool or sandpaper. Do not allow soap, bleach or other cleaning solutions set on the surface.
A steel wool pad with stainless steel polisher is recommended for removing scratches. Gently rub in a circular motion first, then wipe clean with a damp cloth.
